Setting up frequency or regular headway is a shortcut to set up a schedule involving regular repeated trips. For example, if a vehicle leaves a stop every half-hour from 6AM to 7PM, and visits the same stops (trip pattern) on a consistent schedule (pattern timing), this can be described economically with "frequencies" or "regular headways."
How do I define a trip that repeats with regular headways?
After creating a new trip or locating an existing trip on the Schedules page. Click on the trip and choose Edit Trip, after which check the box Repeats with regular headways.
You will want to make sure that both the stop pattern and pattern timing are the same for all repeating trips, after which you can define the following to set up repeating trips throughout the day.
- Start Time (Departure time of the first trip of the day)
- Regular headway (Frequency at which trips repeat - Every 15 min, 30 min, 60 min, etc)
- Departure of last trip (Start time of the last trip of the day)
In the example above trips operate starting at 6:00 am and depart every 30 minutes, with the final trip of the day departing at 7:00 pm. You can also define "block" values if the trips will be operated by the same vehicle, and "In-seat transfers allowed" if passengers are able to continue onto the next trip without disembarking the vehicle and paying an additional fare.
